The president of the Integrated Social Development Committee of the National Assembly, Oscar Figuera, responsible for carrying out the delayed amendment to the Labor Law, said that everything is given to present the standard at the plenary of the Parliament in April. Although said to be created 350 articles and 110 should be removed, Figuera said the Communist Party of Venezuela has the political will to adopt the bill on second reading, early in the second quarter of this year.

however, said that the penalty depends not only on the Communists, but the parliamentary majority in the legislature, represented by the Party United Socialist Party of Venezuela.
On June 19, 1997 was issued the current Labor Law (LOT) in Venezuela, which, since its enactment was contrary views on alleged deficiencies contained therein. Upon arrival of the government of President Hugo Chavez in 1999, promised change this rule, but now, 10 years later, still remains the lot of 97 current and rests in the National Assembly (AN) a draft of more than 500 items waiting to be discussed and finally approved for the promise of changing the regulatory framework for industrial relations.

Discussion of the lot is currently detained in Parliament, then that during the last semester various spokesmen vowed that the statute would be adopted before end of the year. Today few doubt that the enactment sectors to achieve the current conformation of the NA and would have to wait after the parliamentary elections, for the lot to be discussed and approved. Although there is a risk, analysts say, that the law was passed "on the run" by the current AN.

The leader of Venezuela's Labor Movement, cutting opponent, Froilan Barrios, said discussions about the articles of the law are very backward and, if approved in 2010, an instrument enacted hastily, with little consultation and improvised.
noted that 500 items "can not send in a few months, and so would be through total improvisation." He warned that within the lot there are issues that, given its complexity, should be discussed in depth with all socio-economic sectors in Venezuela.
